What is schema markup?
Schema markup is structured data (usually JSON-LD) added to a page's code that tells search engines exactly what the content means, a recipe, product, FAQ, article, and so on.

It doesn't change what users see, but it labels your content for machines. That can unlock rich results (star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, event times) and removes ambiguity about your entities, prices, or authorship.
Why it matters for AI search
Schema is one of the strongest levers for AI search: it hands assistants clean, unambiguous facts about your business, so they can quote you accurately and confidently. FAQ and Article schema are especially citation-friendly.
